A little while ago I was asked to create a cake for a little boy's fifth birthday. He loves the TV show Deadly 60 and so he required one of his favourite "deadly" animals: a banded sand snake (well I add to Google it because I had NEVER heard of that snake before !!!!)
Here is what I came up with. It is a chocolate madeira cake with chocolate buttercream. I covered the board with royal icing and sprinkled some brown sugar on top to try and get the impression of sand.
